RETURN OF THE PAST

September 27 - October 30, 2025

Return of the Past is a series of works based on memories of my younger years. It examines how memories are constructed, preserved, and transmitted. Experiencing the so-called “Reminiscence Bump” is a cognitive phenomenon in which adults tend to recall more personal memories during adolescence and early adulthood.

The deep-seated memory explores the process of reconsolidation, or an interpretation of the past. For my work presentation, highlight the influence of religion on beliefs about good, evil, right, wrong, heaven, and hell—the manifestation of human conditions and the reflection of past realities.

The present moment constantly interacts with our memories. By examining this relationship from multiple perspectives, we can gain a deeper understanding of how our memories shape our present and inform our future, and this highlights the significance of memory in shaping our sense of identity and influencing our attitude or behavior. The Return of the Past is a contemplation where memories are from the past, while remembering is in the present, and they can coexist in the presence of time.
